Pet Cremation in Adelaide — caring, individual aftercare for Adelaide families.
Losing a pet is one of the hardest moments a family can face. The companion who greeted you every morning, curled up beside you, and loved you without condition is suddenly gone — and in the rawness of that grief, you’re asked to make decisions you never wanted to think about. At Adelaide Pet Cremation, our only job is to make this part gentle, so you can focus on saying goodbye.
We are a local, family-owned pet cremation service caring for families right across Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills and surrounding South Australia. Whether your pet has passed at home, at the vet, or after a long illness, we will treat them with the same tenderness and respect we would give our own — and we will keep you informed and reassured at every step.
This page explains how pet cremation works in Adelaide, the difference between individual and communal cremation, what it costs, and how to arrange care today. If you would rather simply talk to a real person, you’re welcome to call us at any time. There is never any pressure — only help.
What is pet cremation?
Pet cremation is a respectful way of caring for your pet’s body after they pass, using gentle heat to return them to ash. For most Adelaide families it offers something burial cannot: the choice to keep your pet close in a beautiful urn or keepsake, to scatter their ashes somewhere meaningful, or simply to have time to decide. It avoids the difficulty of backyard burial — council rules, rental properties, hard Adelaide clay soils — and gives you a dignified, permanent way to remember them.
The most important decision you’ll make is whether you’d like an individual cremation or a communal one. We’ll explain both honestly so you can choose what feels right for your family and your budget — there is no wrong answer, and no judgement either way.
Individual vs communal pet cremation
With an individual (also called private) cremation, your pet is cremated on their own, and their ashes are carefully gathered and returned to you. This is the right choice for families who want their pet back home. Because every individual cremation is carried out for one pet alone, the ashes we return to you are only ever your own pet’s — never mixed with another family’s.
With a communal cremation, several pets are cremated together and the ashes are not returned — they are respectfully scattered. This is a gentler-on-the-budget option for families who don’t wish to keep ashes, and your pet is still treated with complete care and dignity throughout.
- Individual / private cremation — your pet alone, ashes returned to you
- Communal cremation — respectful care, ashes not returned
- Memorial urns, paw prints, fur clippings and keepsakes available with either option
Caring for pets of every kind
We care for dogs and cats of every size and breed, as well as rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, ferrets, reptiles and other small and pocket pets. Larger pets and special circumstances are welcome too — just let us know about your pet when you call and we’ll explain exactly how we’ll care for them.
Many Adelaide families come to us after euthanasia at their vet, while others lose their pet suddenly at home. However it has happened, we can collect your pet from your home or directly from your veterinary clinic, anywhere across the metro area, the Hills and beyond.
Trusted across Adelaide & South Australia
We serve families across greater Adelaide — from the northern suburbs of Elizabeth, Salisbury and Gawler, to the southern and coastal suburbs, the eastern and western suburbs, the Adelaide Hills and Mount Barker. Wherever you are in South Australia, you can reach us, and we can arrange collection and return that suits you.
We also work hand in hand with local veterinary clinics who trust us to care for the pets in their community. If your vet has recommended us, you’re in gentle hands.
